Frequently Asked Questions
Q – What does a membership come with?
A – Membership includes 10 free song pitches per month, 1 free song evaluation per month, access to the monthly tip sheet, which tells you which artists are looking for songs, a monthly tips and tricks email, and access to the Inside Pitch and Bullpen (more on that in the 2 questions below). Members also get 25% off of admin services like registering your songs with the M.L.C. and your P.R.O.
Q – How is Inside Pitch Club different from other pitch services?
A- There are plenty of companies in town that will take your money to “pitch” your songs, but there are few that have actual cuts or recent cuts with major label artists. Many of these “pitches” involve sending a physical CD to a physical address of a record label easily accessible on the internet. We call that a false market. When we started dreaming about what this company could look like, our number one priority was bringing real opportunities to real songwriters. To do that, we HAVE to turn down most of the songs we hear…Why? Because that’s how the ACTUAL music industry works. Did you know that even for staff writers at major publishing companies, most of the songs written never get pitched? Why? Because artists don’t need good songs… They need GREAT songs. You ARE competing with the best songwriters in the world. The songs have to be great. And if they are, they WILL get pitched. And here’s the big difference between us and other “song pitching services”. We don’t open pitches for one single opportunity and then forget about your song. If we accept your song into our pitching catalog then it gets pitched multiple times whenever there’s an opportunity. Our pro plugger has been in the industry for years and very often has seen songs pitched and landed years after it was originally submitted. We aren’t a pitch it and forget it kind of opportunity.
We partner with legitimate artists with impressive bios and audiences to offer guaranteed cuts, exclusive to our members. Our members WILL get cuts which means that you aren’t competing with thousands of other writers for these cuts.
We also don’t take a percentage of your publishing or royalties. You keep all your rights. Because of that, we are non-exclusive meaning we will be pitching your song, but you’re free to have other people pitch as well.
Q – What is the Bullpen?
A – The Bullpen is a special perk for our members that are turning in really good songs, but not quite to the standard of our pitch catalog. We have to be very exclusive in order to be competitive with the big publishers in town, but that doesn’t mean that opportunities stop with the pitch catalog. Members that have songs accepted into the bullpen will have the opportunity to join a bullpen only pro writer lead session and get feedback on how their song could get to that next level and learn firsthand in a small group setting. It’s also a great way to hear from and meet the other writers that are making waves.
Q – Who is listening to my songs?
A – We have a panel of industry professionals that are active in the industry. Publishers, hit songwriters, artists, and producers. You can see a list of our panelists on the home page.
Every song will be listened to by an industry expert.
Q – How does the Inside Pitch Work? Who can pitch to that?
A – Only our members can submit to the Inside Pitch. Every quarter we will partner with an up and coming artist that we feel like is on the rise and has great promise. The artist will choose a song from the Inside Pitch Catalog to record and release. This is a great way to start getting buzz as a writer and building a resume of cuts.
Q – Do I have to be a member to pitch songs?
A – Nope! We offer a la carte submissions as well. Only our members are eligible for the Inside Pitch, and the Bullpen, but you are welcome to submit songs to be considered for our pitch catalog without membership.
Q – Does Inside Pitch Club take a percentage of my song?
A – Nope, not at all. We want you to own your rights. There may be certain opportunities where we connect you with a 3rd party that could potentially offer you a deal, but that would be completely separate from Inside Pitch Club and we would not participate.
Q – Who will you pitch my songs to?
A – We will treat your songs like publishers treat your songs. If they are ready to be pitched, we will pitch them to who they make sense for. Our pluggers are well connected and able to get songs to the heavy hitters and the up-and-comers. Their job is to get cuts and they will be working hard to do that. Unlike a lot of companies that focus on pitching to specific projects or artists, if your song is in our pitch catalog, it will be pitched to several artists and projects. Sometimes it takes months or years for a song to get cut. Sometimes it takes being pitched over and over and over. Not every song will get cut, but our pluggers will get the songs heard. Then it’s up to the song to do its magic!
Q- Do my songs need to be fully produced in order to submit?
A – No, however some artists do like to hear fully fleshed out demos and it can help sell the song. Some artists, managers, and producers prefer hearing work tapes. Our pluggers pay attention to preferences and will let us know if a song is ready, but needs a demo.
Q – What styles do you pitch?
A – We will pitch everything. We have the most track record with Country, TV/Film, Christian, Bluegrass, and Gospel, but we also pitch in the Rock and Pop genres. If the song is great, we will do our best to find it a home.
Q – Who will be pitching my song?
A – We have 2 in-house song pluggers with many years of experience… And lots of cuts! Unlike a lot of “song pluggers” representing independent music, our pluggers are relevant TODAY! Some of their recent cuts include: Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Cody Johnson, Ronnie Dunn, Reba McEntire, Justin Moore, Hank Williams Jr., Colt Ford, LoCash as well as multiple TV/Film placements. Having cuts with big names and up-and-comers alike, your songs will be in good hands!
Q – If accepted, how long will my song remain in the pitch catalog?
A – Songs that are accepted into the pitch catalog, whether by a member or from an al a carte submission will remain in the catalog for 12 months or until it has been recorded by a recording artist*. At the end of 12 months, Inside Pitch Club reserves the right to remove the song from the pitch catalog unless at least one writer or copyright owner of that song is a member. Active members’ songs will remain in the pitch catalog until their membership is cancelled, at which point their songs may be removed once the 12 month term expires.
*Although unlikely, unforeseen circumstances such as sickness, death or incapacitation of song pluggers or owners of this site or closure of the business may limit the term of inclusion to the pitch catalog or some songs.
